1st Nov 2004Yarm - a Dormitory town
Yarm sits beside the River Tees upstream from Stockton on Tees. The town is surrounded on three sides by the waters of the river, held back into a semis still lake, which is seventeen miles long by the Tees Barrage. The town has grown in size over the past twenty years and is now an elite place to live for people who work on Teesside. It has a wide High Street with a central Town Hall and a lot of alleys which are called Wynds here. There is a magnificent river walk around the town
